Due to weather conditions related to Hurricane Florence, all Zipcars in the following areas have been grounded as of Wednesday, September 12, 2018:

  • Chapel Hill, North Carolina
  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • Conway, South Carolina
  • Durham, North Carolina
  • Fayetteville, North Carolina
  • Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Norfolk, Virginia
  • Princess Anne, Maryland
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Salisbury, Maryland
  • Savannah, Georgia
  • Williamsburg, Virginia

The Zipcars in these areas will remain unavailable until local authorities deem it safe to drive. Members with reservations on these vehicles have been notified.

In the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area, some Zipcars have been relocated as of Thursday, September 13, 2018 due to expected flooding. Please visit the Zipcar app or website for availability. As always, Zipcar asks its members to follow the recommendations of local authorities and only drive when it is deemed safe.

The company will waive cancellation fees associated with last minute changes to vehicle reservations in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. to ensure the safety of its members.

***UPDATE*** 9/14/2018

As of Friday, September 14, 2018 all vehicles at UNC Charlotte have been grounded. The Zipcars at this university will remain unavailable until it is deemed safe to drive.

Additionally, all vehicles in the following areas have been ungrounded as of September 14, 2018 and are now available:

  • Baltimore, Maryland
  • Norfolk, Virginia
  • Princess Anne, Maryland
  • Salisbury, Maryland
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Williamsburg, Virginia
